High School District 214 students and their parents are invited to an information-packed lineup of free events this fall focused on career exploration.

The first trio of events, called Career Nights, will be held in September and October at various schools in the district. Career Nights provide a glimpse into a variety of careers, allowing students and parents to meet with industry professionals and hear about the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in each field.

Career Nights are a great opportunity for District 214 students and their parents to get their questions about careers answered and make connections with professionals while simultaneously learning how the District’s Career Pathways program can help them reach their goals and gain skills to succeed.

Each night will focus on different career areas. Career Nights will be held on the following dates:

  • "Careers in Arts & Communication/Human Services" will be held on Tuesday, September 17 at Prospect High School

  • "Careers in Health & Natural Resources" will take place at Wheeling High School on Thursday, September 26

  • "Careers in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Business and Computers" will be held at Rolling Meadows High School on Tuesday, October 15

On-site registration begins at 6 p.m. Each evening will conclude at 8:30 p.m.

The district’s College and Career Ready! Night, held on Wednesday, October 23, will provide a deeper look into the district’s Career Pathways program.

At the event, District 214 educators will lead sessions about career pathways, early college credit opportunities and workplace learning experiences. University and college partners will also be on hand to answer questions.

The event runs from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Forest View Educational Center. Each session runs for 45 minutes and will be repeated after 6:30 p.m.
