Inside the Automotive Technology classroom at John Hersey High School, students are performing tire repairs, building cars and discovering their futures.

Zoe Axelrod plans to pursue a career in the graphic design industry after building her skills in and out of the classroom, and creating work that has been featured at the national level.

Tanya Sarkis took four dual credit courses during her senior year at Wheeling High School.

Sarkis, now a freshman at DePaul University, was able to earn 18.5 college credits through classes and saved about $11,000 in college tuition.

The Career Ready Boot Camp – coordinated by District 214’s Center for Career Discovery – piloted this month to help 100 students develop their employability skills and confidence.

When Wheeling High School graduate Taran Lichtenberger learned of an award recognizing educators, one person immediately came to mind – her high school biology teacher.

More than 300 students from across District 214 schools participated in a campus visit on April 16 to Eastern Illinois University. The visit marks the first time students across District 214 schools toured a college campus together.

To prepare students for careers in broadcasting, reporting and digital communications, District 214 offers classes in its Journalism and Broadcasting Career Pathway. The pathway supplements these courses with practical experience through student newspapers, websites, webcasts, podcasts, yearbooks and broadcasts, as well as internships.
